Shalom! The Heritage of Claudio Abbado

Coro Papageno
Claudio Abbado
Coro Papageno was founded by the late Claudio Abbado in 2011, a choir, where inmates get the chance to sing together. The approximately 120 imprisoned men and women who sing in the “Dozza” prison choir in Bologna give at least two concerts a year and have already performed at the European Music Festival and in the Vatican. Singing together requires people to listen to each other and respect one another. This is one of the key elements of inmate rehabilitation and the concept which inspired Abbado to establish this project. This film is a proof-of-concept of Claudio Abbado’s idea that music is necessary to life: it can change it, improve it and, in some cases, save it.
